Hullo to all in Atuldom

Its been three weeks since the gang out happened in Bangalore. I am sure fellow atulites would be waiting for a report on the happenings of that day. But that is not the beginning. It all began with the news that there was going to be a visitor to Bangalore in the week preceding Diwali. That started the chain of mails to coax other Atulites into making a visit. I think this is the right place to mention that this is that period in the year when birds migrate from the colder regions of the world to India which is definitely warmer. One of our gang member joins the birds in this home coming. The first person to jump to say the dates were ideal for the gangout was Sudhirji and YYIIPPEEEE master. Guruji conveyed that he would be unable to make it but Ben Katie was 100% sure she would join us over the net and be our international delegate. There were only 77 mails exchanged to put the whole meet in place. My mind was playing the song “Jahaan Char Yaar Miljaaye”.

All of us have, arguably, resorted to day dreaming at some point. Daydreaming is a short term flight of our mind and thoughts from one’s immediate existence, during which the mind moves from reality, and into the realm of fantasy, especially one of wishful happening, hopes or ambitions, imagined as coming to pass, which is experienced while being awake. Daydreaming surfaces because there is no rationing or moral policing to check them!. The state of daydreaming is between waking (with the ability to think rationally and logically) and sleeping.

“Do Bhai” is a title that was quite frequent in olden days. Movies with this title were made in 1947, 1961 and 1969. Songs from all the three movies have been discussed in the past. The movie of 1947 is already a YIPPEED movie in the blog.

Hullo to all at Atuldom

The rains always send me down memory lane. Whether it is the June to September cycle of the Indian monsoon or the unexpected rains that happen in the connection with the low pressures in the Bay Of Bengal sometime during October – November. Now going back to my school days, I remember that it is all geographical phenomena that brings rain in oct- Nov. but the June rains have more memories attached to them than the winter rains. Our schools used to reopen post summer vacations in June. And the rainy season; as we in Mumbai knew it; would promptly arrive in the second week of June with heavy downpours, water logging and forced closure of schools giving us additional holidays. (Yes; that was common even thirty years ago as it is today when all and sundry cry foul about the bad drainages.)

Today (13 october 2015) is the death anniversary of Kishore Kumar (4 august 1929- 13 october 1987). Kishore Kumar wanted to be a playback singer, but he found himself getting signed up as an actor. Today (11 october 2015) is the 73rd birth anniversary of Amitabh Bachchan (11 october 1942). From his date of birth, it can be seen that he was born a few months after the Quit India movement. Inspired by that movement, he was initially named “Inquibaab”. He was later renamed Amitabh on the suggestion of Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant who was a close friend of Amitabh’s father, poet Hariwanshrai Bachchan.
