Vasant Desai had a fairly long stint of thirty plus years in the film industry, and yet his total assignments as a music director are less than fifty. It is said that he did not take up or did not get many assignments because of his style. His style is deeply rooted in the classical and folk traditions, and he maintained that style throughout his career. In the 60s and 70s, his assignments are few and far between, and yet, with each outing as a composer, he has left an indelible mark.

I have posted two songs from “Nadiya Ke Paar” (1982). This movie is full of wonderful heart warming songs in it. With time, I feel that these songs have become even sweeter to listen to.

“Nadiyaa Ke Paar” (1982) was a quintessential Rajshri Productions movie. Like all Rajshri productions movies, this movie too was a low budget movie, made with less known actors, including newcomers. Like all other Rajshri productions movies, this movie too had outstanding music in it.

This is a song one will love listening to. The picturisation, I think is quite eye catching. The picturisation shows two damsels in typically bright dresses which are supposedly the dresses worn in villages while going to the local river to fetch water and exchange gossip.
