“Gomti Ke Kinaare” (1972), despite being a recent movie by the standards of this blog is a forgotten movie. this movie was produced and directed by Saawan Kumar Tak, who would later on specialise in making movies on the themes of Saajan and Sautan.

When one talked of “Black Cats” two decades ago, one meant the elite commandos who protect VVIPs. These days they are called SPG (special protection group). But in the distant past, black Cat actually meant “kaali billi”, and there was this belief that a black cat crossing your path when you are going out somewhere was bad omen. As it is, I have a black cat for a pet and that black cat must have crossed my path hundreds of time by now, that is when it is not seated on places like my lap, my laptop, sofa, bed, mat etc.

There are some actors in Hindi movies who are so badly typedcast that it is rare to see or imagine them in roles different from the ones for which they are well known. For instance, Nimmi is perceived to be an actress who is always dealt a rough deal by the fate. Not just I, even some regulars are of the same view. For example, one regular, while sending me the lyrics of a song picturised on Nimmi informed me that he could detect a faint smile on Nimmi’s face in the pcturisation. I watched that song several times in super slow motion to witness the rare occurence.

“Mayur Pankh” (1954), a Sahu Productions movie, had Kishore Sahu romancing an English lady (Odette Ferguson). Instead of singing the usual duets, the two would go to various song/dance performances where a female dancer would be performing.

“Mayur Pankh”(1954), a Sahu Production movie, which was directed by Kishore Sahu had a star cast consisting of names like Kishore Sahu, Ramesh Gupta, Sumitra Devi, Jankidas, Reginald Jackson, Seema, Asha Mathur, Cuckoo, Moni Chatterji, Helen, Odette Ferguson, etc. The story line of this movie, as I have guessed from watching its songs is rather interesting. It shows an Indian man falling in love with an English woman and an English man returning the compliments by falling in love with an Indian woman.
