The saga of Hindi films will never be complete without the discussion of the “formula” that used to be, and continues to be, followed by the production banners. More often than not, once a film became a hit, and brought profits for the producers, generally there used to be a spate of new productions trying to imitate the theme, the storyline, and the main attractive ingredients of that successful film, in an effort to duplicate that success. Over a period of time, such duplications would get refined into a list of specific ingredients that should be part of a film production strategy. “Modern Girl”(1961) was a Rainbow movies production. It was directed by R Bhattacharya. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Sayeeda Khan, Madan Puri, Smriti Biswas, Iftikhar, Tuntun, Helen, Johnny Walker, Nalini Chonkar etc in it.

Here is one more song of the popular unofficial genre viz “how come this song was not posted earlier” 🙂 . During my younger days I was only into listening current songs and any song created before 1968 was old song for me. then one fine day in mid 1970s I decided to become mature, viz. become interested in old songs. It was then that I learnt about O P Nayyar. The fact that he made his career without using the voice of Lata voice impressed me a lot. Then I heard O P Nayyar compositions from movies like “CID”(1956), “Naya Daur”(1957) etc.

“Do Dilon Ki Daastaan” (1966) is by now an obscure movie. This movie was a production of Pradeep Kumar and his brother under their banner viz Deep and Sandeep Production. Pradeep Kumar directed the movie and the starcast included names viz. Pradeep Kumar, Vyjyanti Mala, Om Prakash, Jagdeep, Rehman, Shashikala, B. Nandi, Nazir Hussain, Tuntun etc.
