This song is neither written by Hasrat Jaipuri nor composed by Shankar Jaikishan. But this song sounds like a Shammi Kapoor song, and it looks like a Shammi Kapoor song, because other ingredients are very much there. Rafi is the singer, Asha Parekh is there, and most important of them all, Shammi Kapoor himself is there in this song.

There are several songs that play at the very beginning of the movie as the credits begin rolling in on screen. I have not yet had a category for them, but I think I should call such songs as movie opening songs. They open the movie like how opening batsmen open an innings in a cricket match.

There have been three movies called “Ziddi” over the years that I am aware of. These movies were released in 1948, 1964 and 1997. “Ziddi” (1948) and “Ziddi” (1964) have some very fine songs and I have posted songs from both these movies in this blog. “Ab Dilli Door Nahin” (1957) is remembered now a days for its immortal song “chun chun karti aayi chidiyaa, daal ka dana laayi chidiyaa”. From the songs of this movie, this movie apparently was a story of kids who are orphans and live in an orphanage.
