“Maaya Jaal”(1962) aka “Jaadoogar” was a partially colour film (which was usual for movies of that era). This movie was directed by Babubhai Mistry for Rajhans Pictures, Bombay. I believe this is another so verily a commonplace experience, waking up in the darkness of the night. The structured minds and the regimented ‘scientific’ thought process, has a very different view of what this sleeplessness is. On the other hand, a romantic, poetic mind will have an expression so totally different, and so wonderfully human. And if that mind is familiar with, and is a connoisseur of Hindi film music, that mind will have simply no difficulty in understanding. For there is so much that the song writers have written, and so much that the singers have rendered. . . about this waking up in the middle of a deep sleep.

26th October is an important date for our blog. It has 2 birthdays. One is our very own Rajababu another is the female actor of the 90s Raveena Tandon. For me it is important as on this day my lil sister was born all those years ago. (I still feel of my sisters as little sisters even though the eldest child of my younger sis is in her first year of college this year, and the twins of my other sister are in class 4).

The 25th of October is an important date for Hindi film music lovers. In fact, not just for them but for lovers of Urdu poetry too. For it is the anniversary of passing away of one of the industry’s foremost lyricists, Sahir Ludhianvi, who was highly regarded not just for lyrics but also for his poetry. In fact it was his poetry that brought him recognition early on – he just extended it to the film industry.
