A rare song, and a very infrequent combination indeed. This is a duet sung by Mukesh and Surinder Kaur. Continuing the series of pending Mukesh songs, and now traversing the year 1949, we come across this gem of a song from an obscure film, ‘Daada’. The duo have sung together only in two films, this one and ‘Sunehre Din’, also from the same year. All songs of ‘Sunehre Din’ are already posted here. From ‘Daada’, there are two Mukesh songs pending, and today I bring on one of them.

“Dil e Naadaan” (1981) was produced by S M Sundaram and directed by C V Sridhar. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Jaya Prada, Shatrughan Sinha, Smita Patil, Om Prakash, Dina Pathak, Agha, Keshto Mukherji, Jagdish Raj, Shivraj, Ashalata etc in it.

Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini, the top male and female stars of 1970s, combined for the first time in 1974 in “Premnagar” (1974). Rajesh Khanna’s stars were setting at that time and the movie did not do as well as most Rajesh Khanna movies did just a few years ago during his heady days as the heartthrob of movie goers.

1949, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of Hindi film music. Many a music directors, lyricists and singers, wrote their histories in this year. There has been great music both before and after this singular year. But the numbers and quality of music from this year, simply speaks for itself.
