“Moorti” (1945) is one of those movies are are so obscure that finding its songs on YT is often out of question. So it always comes as a pleasant surprise when one can locate such songs there. And I was pleasantly surprised to see this song already uploaded, though any details on this song were conspicuous by their absence. It is not that I am complaining. With such obscure songs, any small mercies will do.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee had watched a Japanese movie, which depicts a man who has only a few days to live but instead of being melancholic, he lives his life cheerfully and spreads happiness all around him. Hrishikesh Mukherjee liked that movie so much that he adpated the movie into Hindi and created “Anand” (1970). “Aatmaram” (1979) is a recent movie bty the standards of this blog, but this movie is nearly as obscure as many movies of much older vintage. The reasons are not far to seek. The movie was a smaller budget movie with actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Vidya Sinha,Bindiya Goswami,Amjad Khan etc in it. The movie was directed by Sohanlal Kanwar and the movie sank without a trace.

An almost sublime piece of music, whose author is not known (as yet). This non film offering by Pankaj Babu is a gem that ensconces within itself, immeasurable depths of emotions. The words are just so beautiful, and the rendering by Pankaj Babu highlights the expressions to the utmost.
