There are few write-ups that I had left unfinished before the ‘gang-out’ happened. They remained unfinished and so got delayed. Today’s post is one such delayed post which was about ‘summer vacations in my childhood days’ and memory of one such movie watched during one summer vacation.
The vacations are over this year and I guess that schools have re-opened everywhere, except a few states where vacations have been extended due to severe heat conditions that still exist.

This film is so obscure that the names associated with this film, from the production House – National Artists, Bombay – to names from other heads like the Director. Music Directors (4 MDs), the Lyricists to its cast members (except Shashikala, Mirza Musharraf and Bhudo Advani) all are almost never heard of and are least known !

It’s been a while since I wrote an article for this blog (a long while – the last thing I wrote was “Ae Watan Ae Watan” in 2019). This week at Arunji’s home (2 June 2023), Sudhir ji encouraged me to write again, following in the footsteps of my mother who has been contributing for years. The conversations that day were incredibly stimulating, particularly the appreciation expressed for the blog among movie trivia enthusiasts. Eventually, I succumbed to the peer pressure. I returned home and embarked on a search for inspiration (aka a song) to write about. It was then that I realized Ameesha Patel’s birthday was approaching, and I immediately got to work.

If one looks at the details of “Milan”(1946) in HFGK part 2, we get the information that it is a “Social” movie that was directed by Nitin Bose for Bombay Talkies, Bombay. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Meera Mishra, Ranjana, Pahadi Sanyal,Moni Chattterjee, Sham Laha,S Nazeer. HFGK mentions eight songs in this movie. Four songs each were penned by Aarzoo Lucknowi and P L Santoshi. HFGK mentions the name of singers in five songs and record numbers in six songs. I make it a point to wake up at around 4 AM every morning. I do that without fail. The idea is to take my two dogs on their morning walks, one dog at a time. The first dog (Junior Dog Izza) goes first. Her walk starts at around 4:30 and she is back by around 4:50. Then Bhole (the senior dog) goes on walk. His walk typically ends at 5:10 AM. That is the time when the sky begins to get brighter. It is then that “morning walkers” start coming out on roads for their morning walk. To my mind, the best time for morning walk is between 4:30 to 5 AM or so. That is the window of opportunity for a meaningful morning walk. At that time, it is actually morning (viz it is still pre dawn), very few people are out at that time, and one has true privacy, so to say.
