“Magroor” (1950) had eight songs in it, and every one of these songs needs to be here. And I will make sure that I discuss all of them, provided links of all these songs are available.

Sajjad Hussain was a music director who could create amazing music but his ability to make enemies meant that he got very few opportunities to showcase his abilities as a music director. He composed only about one hundred songs in 14 movies. He was described by Anil Biswas as the only original music director in Hindi movies. Coming from Anil Biswas, it is very high praise indeed !

Naazuk naazuk badan moraa

Reading the line of the lyrics “naazuk naazuk badan moraa” did not ring any bells for me, but when I listened to the song, then it rang began to ring quite loudly. I had listened to this song during my younger days, some four decades ago. And I was not aware of any details of this song. In fact I was nnot even aware of the lyrics of the song. I only had vague recollections of the catchy tune of this song.

When I got the farmaish for this song “Ek but banaaungaa” from “Asli Naqli” (1962) and played this song, I thought I was going to listen to the song “ek but banaaungaa tere ghar ke saamne”, but I found myself listening to a different song, viz “ek but banaaungaa teraa aur poojaa karoongaa”.

I have not kept a count of it, but I think I have posted songs from most Shammi Kapoor movies in this blog. Considering that Shammi Kapoor came into his own in 1957 with “Tumsa Nahin Dekhaa” (1957) and continued till late 1960s with the kind of movies with he is identified, he may have worked in about 20 odd typically Shammi Kapoor movies. I have posted songs from almost all these movies, in addition to posting songs from other Shammi Kapoor movies where he played other kinds of roles.

There are very few music directors who were around when the golden era began and who lasted almost the entire period of this golden era. The one music director who was around for almost the entire duration and whose was S D Burman.

This song starts with a car moving in a road, with four people sitting in it. Good, so it is a car song, I think.
But for the rest of the song, the car remains parked. The four of them have come for a picnic. We see Shashikala, holding a picnic basket in one hand, singing this song, to no one is particular. Others have assembled there for picnic, but she seems to have gone there to sing this song. 😀 I see that her colleagues include Dharmendra, but he keeps a low profile throughout this song.
