Today’s drunkard song is from the movie ‘Mawaali-1983’.
‘Mawaali-1983’ was directed by K. Bapaiyya for ‘Padmalaya Studios, Madras’. G. Hanumantha Rao was the producer of this ‘social’ movie passed by Censor Board on 28.10.1983.
By this time in 1983 I was studying in Std-XI with ‘PCM+ Vocational Subjects’. But, I was more interested in cricket and Rajesh Khanna movies than in my studies. But even then I had not watched this movie ‘Mawaali-1983’. I was averse to these Jeetendra movies coming from South directors except ‘Himmatwaalaa’ (since it was a first of its kind and discussed a lot then), ‘Tohfaa’ and ‘Maqsad’. ‘Tohfaa’ had some good songs and I watched it with many interested family members who had assigned me the task of booking the tickets for this movie.

Mukesh and his NFS – 14
We come back to arguably the most nostalgic songs that Mukesh sang in his life. I say life and not singing career because he recorded these half a dozen songs before he set foot in Bombay in 1940-41.
A young boy, 17 years of age managed to record 6 songs in Delhi and have them released on discs. How he pulled this great feat is not documented.

The film was made by Suresh Productions, Bombay. Produced by Nandkishore, it was directed by A.M.Khan and the music was by the C grade stunt film specialist pair Suresh-Talwar. The cast included Kamran, Chitra, Amarnath, N.A.Ansari, Manju, Ram Singh and many usual C grade film artists.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
Some films don’t attract audiences, they just flop. No filmmaker makes a film to loose his investments. They begin with a firm story in mind but incorrect promotion and/or word of mouth spread by the few who see it works against the fortunes of the film.
“My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves” that released on 11th January 2008 is one such film. The first thing that was touted about the film was the protagonist played by Nikhil Dwivedi was a Shahrukh Khan look-alike. Second, the title of the film itself was not something that would give an idea to moviegoers about the content of the film. All this was in the year 2007/2008.

The cast included Rajanikanth, Anita Raj, Rakesh Roshan, Ranjita, Om Shivpuri, Padma Chavan, Satyen Kappu, Shakti Kapoor, Silk Smitha, Madan Puri, Jagdish Raj, Aruna Irani etc.

Today 3rd July 2026 is the 75th Birthday of Singer Amit Kumar(DoB 3rd July 1952).
On this occasion I am presenting a lesser heard song from the movie ‘Romance-1983’.
‘Romance-1983’ was produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar for his home productions ‘Sagar Art Enterprises, Bombay’. This movie was passed by Censor Board 12.10.1983. The cast of this movie included Shammi Kapoor, Kumar Gaurav, Poonam Dhillon, with Saeed Jaffrey, Helena Luke, Sushma Seth, Prema Narayan, and Tom Alter. They were supported by Viju Khote, Jugnu, Manmauji, Samrat Kapoor, Dr. Madan Kataria, Randhawa, Jawahar Bhan, Chandan, Yogee, Jitu Vyas, and Moolchand. This movie introduced Christopher, Lilliput, and Jillian. Raj Babbar, Ranjeeta and Ram Sethi make friendly appearances in this movie.
