As a simpleton, I thought that Deepawali is a one day festival which is celebrated on amawasya day. Now I realise that Deepaawali begins two days in advance, namely on tryodashi (or teras). This day is popularly called Dhanteras. Next day viz chaturdashi is Narak Chaturdashi aka Chhoti deewaali. Next day, viz amawasya is the day of Laxmi pooja, and it is the real Deepaawali day. Next day, the first day of next lunar cycle, is Govardhan pooja. Next to that is Bhai dooj. That is not all. On the sixth day after Deepaawali is Chhat, a very important festival in Bihar.
I am not the only simpleton. There are others. For instance, there are people who think that Govardhan pooja has something to do with Gobar (cow dung). 🙂 Not really, Govardhan pooja is pooja of Govardhan parvat, the parvat that Lord Krishna lifted to protect Gokulwasis from severe rain.

Today’s song is from the ‘1956’ movie ‘Naqaab Posh’. Another movie from the decade of ‘fifties’ or ‘1951-1960’ where only one song of the same movie has been posted earlier and in this case the first song of this movie ‘Naqaab Posh-1956’ was posted on 28.11.2013.

I have mentioned in one of my earlier post here that these days I am looking for movies where only one song has been posted so far. In my daily browsing of the blog while I have already noted some movies, new surprises keep coming e.g. the time-lag between posting of the first song of the movie and thereafter posting of the second song. While we can understand a couple of year time-lag is considerable some have to wait for their second song almost more than five to six years or even ten years as we have seen during posting of ‘blog ten-year challenge song’. Well, if that was not enough, I have found a movie with a song posted in 2008 and still waiting for its second song to be posted on the blog. 😊

30th October’2020 is the thirtieth ‘Rememberance Day’ of one of the much loved and handsome actors of Hindi Film Industry – Vinod Mehra. He was born on 13th February’1945 and passed away at the young age of forty-five only. The news of his death shocked everybody at that time. He started his career in Hindi movies as a child artist in the late fifties and his career as an adult began in 1971.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 89

This date 29 october 2020 is a different kind of blog ten year challenge. It was on this day ten years ago that I met Raja face to face in Nagpur where I was based at that time. All these days I was under the impression that the meeting had taken place recently, but no, time has sprinted away faster than Usain Bolt, and TEN years have elapsed after that memorable evening. .
