Today , the 20th of June, is a special day for us Atulites.
What’s so special about it, you ask?
Well, he who celebrates the birthdays of so many artistes here (and has an anniversary page on the blog) just happens to have been born on this date, a few summers ago.

Several years ago, I read a tale that made my blood boil. It was about a 96 year old lady, whose palatial house was snatched away forcibly from her by greedy land grabbers and she was forced to stay in the servant quarters of her own prime property. She was no ordinary lady either. she was the first female IAS officer of India.
When media got wind of this fact, the people who had usurped her property hurriedly brought her back to the mansion to “prove” to the media that she was very much the “owner” of her property.
Law abiding people earn some amount for their living and then try to live within them. Then there are some ambitious people who work hard and improve their earning and rise in economic status. They still live within their earning.

Today (5 may 2017) is the 11th death anniversary of Naushad saab. He passed away on the 5th of May 2006.
This is the 9th opportunity for this blog to pay a tribute to Naushad saab on his death anniversary. And yet, though I’ve written tributes for many here, I don’t remember writing one for Naushad saab yet. So here goes.

BINDIYA (1946) was produced under the banner of Sun Art Pictures and was directed by Chimanlal Luhar. The star cast included Amar, Ragini, E Billimoria, Kamal Zamindar, Leela Mishra, Pratima Devi, Shakir, Bhagwandas, Leela Pawar etc. The film was reviewed in August 1946 issue of ‘Filmindia’. I was surprised to find for a change that the review was somewhat lengthier than the usual. After reading the review, I came to know as to why it was so. The additional length of the review was utilised for heavily criticising the director of the film for his inapt handling of the emotional scenes and for Prabhulal Dwivedi, the story writer for the film story based on a mix of several mythological stories.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 9
——————————————————————–
I am an Atulite and I am proud of it. It is an honor to be associated with a blog that drips pure love of music. Like almost all Indians I love Hindi film music. But I cannot claim to be knowledgeable about it. I do know many songs but that is not a qualification. There are thousands of songs out there, many of which have fallen into oblivion. It is the die-hard music lovers that keep track of these songs and chase them with an assiduity that would make Sherlock Holmes feel jealous.
I am amazed when some of my friends are able to name the movie, singer, lyricist and music director as soon as the song is mentioned. Some Atulites could also tell you charming little stories behind the making of each song. Delving here, I have discovered gorgeous songs that not much known but are as precious as Koh-i-Noor.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 1
——————————————————————–
On this blog, one thing we enjoy is, celebrations. 🙂
We are always looking for an opportunity to celebrate – and every other day, we get a reason to do so. Often it is somebody’s birthday or birth anniversary, or a milestone of a 100th or 1000th song for an artiste, or for the blog. And even if it is a death anniversary, which is not really a cause for celebration, we use the occasion to pay tribute to the concerned artiste. Many of my own posts fall in this category. An occasion gives me an opportunity to reminisce and share my thoughts.
