For example, songs sung by people normally not known for their singing, songs composed by people who are normally known for some other activity, lyricist/music director/singer figuring in the picturisation of the song etc.

Kaaghaz ki thhi wo naao

I just came across this rare song from an obscure movie. The movie is called “Zabaan” (1943) and it had actors like Dixit, Mubarak, Ishwarlal, Kaushalya etc in it. None of these names rings any bell as far as I am concerned.

“Chaalis Baba Ek Chor” (1954) is a movie about which every internet site claims to have all the information, but when one visits there, one finds hardly anything of substance. From the little available information, it would seem that Kamini Kaushal was definitely there in this movie. 😀 And then people like Omprakash, Balraj Sahni etc may also have been there in this movie.

In olden days, becoming a train driver was a fond dream of every kid. And those who actually became one were looked upon with awe by his near and dear one’s. During the British days, most drivers in Indian Railways used to be Anglo Indians and that showed their status in society.
