In the 70s Brij Sadanah directed a string of movies after his “Victoria No. 203” became a hit. Almost all his subsequent movies had Pran and Ashok Kumar in central roles with the hero himself being of secondary importance. All his movies had a whole lot of people running after gold or diamonds or khazaana. Then there would be at least one song in disguise.

Two years, really. Life is so incessant, and so mindless in its pursuit of time. Riding on this train of time, it does not allow any halt or a breather. You are on it, and then one day you are not on it. That’s just it, the train continues to roll. The journey is dotted with countless interchanges, and so many wonderful people that we have known, have left this train, to take on a different journey. We know, we will never see them again. Although the past is always behind us and we can never ever get there. Still it continues to live in our minds. People will leave, never to return. But the memories – they are forever.

EID MUBARAK to all our readers, wherever they are on this Globe. Today is a Happy day for the celebrations.

Having grown up in HYDERABAD-the Muslim state of the Nizam- in the 40s,( Hyderabad was annexed to India in 1948,after Patel’s ‘Police Action’), I have very fond memories of Eid. Though Hyderabad merged with India, It was an independent state till 1-11-1956, therefore the Muslim customs, manners, festivals, education and Eating habits continued to have a major influence on Hyderabad public. (In Nov 1956, Hyderabad was Trifurcated. 5 districts of Marathwada merged with Bombay state, 3 Kannada speaking districts merged with Karnataka and remaining 8 Telugu speaking districts merged into the newly formed Andhra Pradesh.( and again now these 8 districts are separating from Andhra Pradesh to form Telangana State !).
