For an average music lover in India, music means film music. The fact that there is a vast body of non film music as well is missed out by most. The non film music has its own audience, though sadly this niche audience is far smaller in number. Established fim movie singers have sung a few non fim songs. On the other end of the spectrum, there were singers who were primarily non film singers and who occasionally sang a few movie songs as well.
