When we say ‘Unreleased’ film, it includes films which remained incomplete, films which did not reach the stage of getting censored and films which got censored but were not released in Theatres. To get songs from such films is a difficult task. Luckily, there are some generous minded Record Collectors in India (shri Giridharilal ji Vishwakarma ji) and Pakistan (Janab Shalin Bhatt ji),who upload some gems from unreleased films.

From 1931 to 2010, a total of 11,150 Talkie films were censored. Once the film gets censored, it is free to be released. However,no one really knows how many films do not reach even the censors. I mean, films get started with very good intentions, but one can not predict whether the film will be completed, censored and released. There are several films which do not reach the theatres.

Today (21 september 2014) is the 88th birth anniversary of Noorjahaan (21 september 1926-23 december 2000). It is an event that may have gone largely unnoticed in Indian media (I am not sure because I do not watch news on TV. Going by the faceboook groups that I frequent, only one site recalled this event. It was through that site that I came to know of this date being the birth anniversary of Mallika e Tarannum.

“Wasiyatnaama” (1945), by now a forgotten movie, was directed by Soumen Mukherji for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Asit Baran, Sumitra Devi, Bharati, Latika Bannerji, Ahindra Chaudhary, Hiralal, Devi Mukherji, Shor, Tandon, Natwar, Tulsi etc in it.

Today (15 august 2014) is the 68th Independence day of India. It is the seventh independence day for this blog.
