“Aawaara Abdulla”(1963) was produced by Bany Talwar and M Ra Kirpal and directed by Tara Harish for Hanna Films, Bombay. The movie had Dara Singh, Pravin Chaudhary, Chandra Shekhar, Rajan Kapoor, Uma Dutt, Shri Bhagwan, Hari Mallik, Ram, Bihari Singh, Baxi, H.Shukla, Jaggi, Ajit Soni, Subhash, Raj Rani, Rekha, Radha Rani, Bhagwan, Helen etc with with World wide wrestlers: John-de-Silva(Europe Champion), Al Rod Goa(West Indies Champion), And Randhava also in it.

Today is 24th December 2016 -92nd birth anniversary of Mohammad Rafi.
At first I thought I would not be able to do a post which does justice to the persona of Mohd Rafi. Even now I am not trying to; all that I am doing is bringing to the blog a song which shows the vocal range that Rafisaab was gifted with. And this is not a super classical song but a fun song which one would normally expect Rafi to sing for Shammi Kapoor. But today’s song is for Shashi Kapoor and one should be excused if there is a feeling of the song being a Shankar- Jaikishan creation. Why? Because the director duo of this song were once music arrangers & assistants for Shankar Jaikishan.

As I write out this post today, I have strong emotions attached to it.
It is a huge honour for me to write this post. I have to thank Atul for giving me the opportunity to do so.
Just a few days ago, Atul sent me an e-mail asking me if I could do a write-up for Kishore Kumar’s 1000th song on this blog. And of course, I immediately mailed back “Sure”. I wouldn’t miss this opportunity – it is indeed a very special occasion and a huge honour for me.

Today (14 december 2016) happens to be Raj Kapoor’s birth anniversary and Shailendra’s death anniversary. We all know that Raj Kapoor and Shailendra worked together in lots of movies beginning from “Barsaat”(1949) and ending with “Mera Naam Joker”(1970) and all these had music by Shankar Jaikishan. We in this blog discuss a song only once, we have discussed all the songs in almost all these Raj Kapoor movies. In fact, the only Raj Kapoor, Shailendra, Shankar Jaikishan combination movie which is not yet YIPPEED is “Mera Naam Joker”(1970).

“Dharti”(1970) was produced and directed by C V Sridhar for Chitralaya Productions Pvt Limited. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Ajit, Balraj Sahni, Kamini Kaushal, Rajendra Nath, Kumkum, Sudesh Kumar, Pahadi Sanyal etc with Shivaji Ganeshan in a Guest appearance. This movie was the remake of a Tamil movie ‘Sivantha Mann'(1969).

When it comes to Daaku Drama, our Hindi movie makers have cast their nets far and wide. They have made movies like “Daaku Bhupat”(1950), “Daaku Mansoor”(1934)/(1961), “Shera Daaku” (1966), “Daaku Mangal Singh”(1966), “Sultana Daku”1956/(1972), “Jagga Daaku”(1959), “Jwaala Daaku”(1981), “Daaku Maan Singh”(1971). Then there were titles like “Shareef Daaku”(1960), “Gentleman Daaku”(1961), “Jaadugar Daaku”(1962), “Beraham Daaku”(1959), “Bahaadur Daaku”(1966), “Diler Daaku”(1957), “Bhedi Daakoo”(1950) etc. There was a plain “Daaku”(1955)/(1975) as well. And for the sake of equal opportunity, we had “Daaku Haseena”(1987), “Daaku Bijli”(1987). Then “Daaku Ka Ladka”(1935),”Daaku Ki Ladki”(1954) were also there.
