Alaap a 1977 film was produced by Hrishikesh Mukerjee and N.C Sippy and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Chhaya Devi, Sanjeey Kumar, Asrani, Farida Jalal, Om Prakash, Manmohan Krishna, Master Ravi, A K Hangal, etc. It is one of the best offerings of MD jaidev’ in his marvelous career. Dr Rahi Massom Raza and Harivanshrai Bachchan provided the lyrics for the songs.

Hullo to all Atulites
Morning times are the times when people generally listen to Bhajans and Pravachans and I am no different. Till a few years back my mornings used to begin with switching on the radio to Vividh Bharati or Radio Ceylon and music used to play through the day. Then the FM channels took over and there used to be a Channel Switching (or changing if I may say) exercise in between the various radio programmes and my own work activities. To add to the confusion, suddenly, TV went 24 hours along with giving us a bouquet of music channels to listen to. And then what happens to a music Buff like me? It was and is the biggest distraction for me especially during working hours.

“Amaanat” (1975) was produced and directed by Shatrujit Paul. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Mehmood, Achalka Sachdev, Shashikala, Keshto Mukherji etc in it. This movie began in 1960s and its songs got released much before the movie. The movie itself had a very delayed release. It finally got its censor certificate on 31 december 1975 and thus qualified as a movie of 1975!

Dadasaheb Phalke chose the subject of a Mythological story to make his first full length silent film “Raja Harischandra”-1913, because people could readily identify with such stories.
