Vijay Anand, the youngest of the Anand brothers clan, is a name very familiar. More so as a producer and director, who has to his credit such rollicking hits like ‘Nau Do Gyaarah’ (1957), ‘Kaala Bazaar’ (1960), ‘Teesri Manzil’ (1966), ‘Jewel Thief’ (1967), ‘Johnny Mera Naam’ (1970) and ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ (1971). He was the director for the magnum opus production of ‘Guide’ (1965) for Dev Anand, arguably the best film of Hindi Cinema.

Prakash ji has written for the second time in ‘Readers Farmaishes’ requesting for the upload of this wonderful sad song in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. The music composition is by that underrated genius – Ganesh. Prakash ji has mentioned that the song itself is not posted anywhere on the internet. So when I read this comment from Prakash ji, repeating his request for this song, I had to pull this out from my collection, and have posted it on YouTube today.

While I searched for this song, Youtube had a number of audio links, no video links, and they all said only that this was a Rafi song from the film “Love in Canada”. The year is said to be 1979, but I am not too sure. When I heard the opening music of the song, I was convinced that it is an R D Burman song. Still to verify my hunch, I looked for info on earthmusic.net. But that website has no information of either this film or song. In this case even Google search engine was not of much help. Finally I remembered that there is a privately compiled list of all Rafi songs stored somewhere in my lap top. I found the excel format file and found the other details about this song. This is song no. 5337 in total 5373 songs rendered by Mohammed Rafi.
