Has anyone seen today’s google doodle?!!!!
It is dedicated to our dear Mogambo a.k.a Durgaprasad Bharadwaj a.k.a Chaudhry Baldev Singh a.k.a Thakur Durjan Singh a.k.a Balwant Rai a.k.a Kishorilal a.k.a Amrish Puri. He would have been 87 today.
Feels like they have appreciated some one close to our family. The doodle shows him in the look he sported for DDLJ – ‘Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ (1995) as Chaudhry Baldev Singh. That movie is remembered as much for the last scene where the Chaudhry tells his daughter,
“jaa beta jaa. Apni Raj ke paas jaa. Jaa Simran, jee le apni zindagi jaa beta jaa”
The last scene can be seen on YT at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAaL5HZC5YI. The movie is remembered for this last scene, as much for all the romance and romantic songs that it had.

Welcome all to this post of today!!!
Today 5th June is the ‘World Environment Day’ which is celebrated all over the world on 5th June every year. Since 2017, we are trying to connect us with this celebration by posting a song on the blog which comes closer to the theme of the ‘World Environment Day’ of that year. Though, it is more or less difficult that we find any direct song relevant to the theme or subject, our endeavour here is to connect with those songs wherein we have ‘nature-connection’ in them or songs about nature symbols.

It is so heartening to see our beloved blog reaching yet another big milestone of 15000 songs being posted! Over a decade plus of hard work by all involved has made this possible but above all it has been Atul ji’s steadfast disciplined hard work which has led to it. I first of all congratulate him for this achievement. Your dedication, hard work and encouragement is always inspiring us. Happy Holi!
Some movies have a lot of memories attached to them. Yash Chopra’s “Chaandni” is one such movie. The year was 1989 and I had been to Mumbai (maayka) for my delivery. So, I had a lot of free time when I could interact with all my friends and neighbours like never before (and never have I had a similar opportunity too) 😉 that made that visit to Mumbai special. For those Atulites who know me- I had shifted out of Mumbai post marriage and so the term “visit to Mumbai”.
Getting back to “Chaandni” – those were the days when there were VCRs in many home and people used to rent Video Cassettes of movies which they couldn’t see in the theatres. I have seen a few movies in that way in the company of my neighbour’s family and more importantly their son. Their son was a year or two older to me so he was a mentor, guide, friend, idol and so many other things for me. To start off (as was the norm in those times) he was my Rakhi bro but we had a different equation between the two of us. He being my idol – I started liking Rekha- his favourite and he, on his part, made an effort to like Amitabh because he doted on me. Whatever love I have for physics, all branches of mathematics, and history is because I followed his way of studying them.

Jigar Muradabadi (06/04/1890 – 09/09/1960) has been often called as ‘shaayar of beauty and love’. Jigar confined his poetry mostly covering his admiration for beauty, love, and emotions. It is said that his poetry has some influence of Daagh Dehlvi and Momin Khan Momin.
