“Vidhyapati”(1964) was directed by Prahlad Sharma for Chitra Vihar, Bombay. This movie had Bharat Bhushan, Simi Garewal, Nazima, Kamaljeet, Bipin Gupta, Murad, Natwar etc in it. This movie was based on the life of Mathili poet Vidhyapati. The language of the movie is Maithili, which is spoken in Darbhanga region of Bihar.

Mukesh and his Composers – 23
This post is dedicated to Shri Harish Raghuwanshi ji of Surat for his pioneering work in collating songs and providing invaluable information on films and artists.
Mukesh’s collaboration with composer Lachhiram hardly rings any bell and rightly so as “they never worked in any film”.
With some surfing on the net, one comes across two devotional NFS that Mukesh sang for him. With more rigorous search one can find references of some rare and untraceable couplet that Mukesh sang in Lachhiram’s last film Main Suhangan Hoon released in 1964.

Today’s song is an ‘all female qawwaali song’ from the 1964 movie ‘Jaadui Angoothi’.
So far, I have been presenting qawwaalis from the decade of seventies on the blog. For a change today, I am presenting this one from the decade of sixties. In fact, today’s song was lying with me since long and Initially I sent only the audio of this song (the only vailable version at that time). But now the movie as well as the video of this songs has become available online.
