Today (4 November 2020) is the 91st birth anniversary of Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal (4 November 1929 – 12 September 1971), one half of the legendary Shankar Jaikishan musical duo. The golden era of HFM started in 1949. Shankar Jaikishan were there right from the beginning. They ruled the roost in HFM for two decades. After that, the duo got separated in unfortunate circumstances, with the untimely death of Jaikishan at the the age of just 41. It is unbelievable but true that he had started at the age of 19 and he had achieved so much by the time he was 41 that the body of his work has gone on the become some of the best and immortal music that the golden era of HFM had given us.

Today 28th Oct’2020 is the ninetieth birth anniversary (born on 28.10.1930 in Varanasi) of Lalji Pandey better known to us by his pen-name ‘Anjaan’.
As per our blog statistics he has written over 1300 songs during his career in Hindi movies. Most of his works were in collaborations with composers Kalyanji–Anandji, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, R. D. Burman and Bappi Lahiri.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 87

Welcome all to the ‘Blog Ten-Year Challenge’ series where today we will have a song after a gap of almost a month. Last song posted under the ‘challenge’ was on 25.09.2020.
We missed some opportunities, but today hopefully we will have two songs in this challenge.
If we see the songs posted ten years back on this day (20.10.2010), we had only three posts on that day as given below;

Today 15th October is (15.10.1922) is ninety-eighth Birth Anniversary of the genius music director Shankar Singh Raghuvanshi or known popularly as Shankar of Shankar-Jaikishan duo.
He was born on 15th October’1922 at Hyderabad Deccan in the then state of Hyderabad.
And left this mortal world at the age of sixty-four on 26th April’1986 at Bombay.
As a tribute to him I am presenting a song from the 1977 movie ‘Duniyaadaari’.

Hullo Atuldom
13th October happens to be the death anniversary of an actress who has played mother to all Bollywood actors and some actresses too.
Nirupa Roy. She was often called the “Queen of Misery” as she has portrayed characters that are forever in sorrow and tragedy. There are many jokes about how she was a careless mother and has been separated from her children in film after film. She was permanent mother to Amitabh Bachchan in movies made in the 70s and she has played his foster mother even in “Lal Badshah” which came in 1999, think that was her last release too.
