“Aarti” (1962) had some wonderful songs, and I am posting these songs now a days. This second song begins somewhat similarly to the other song. In the first song “Kahbhi to milegi”, Meena Kumari listens to a song on Radio, and then sings that song.

It was one of those songs that I loved listening to without having a clue which movie this song was from. And of course I did not know anything about lyricists and music directors those day. I used to think that the singers themselves wrote the song and composed the music too.

“Ujaala” (1959) was a career defining movie for Shammi Kapoor as well as for Raj Kumar. I have already posted a song from this movie which was picturised on Shammi Kapoor. Here is a song where Raj Kumar is visible, but the song is not sung by him. It is sung by a female ( Kumkum, I think).

In Bollywood movies, only hero and heroine seem to have tender feelings seeing that only they get to sing romantic songs. Villains on the other hand seem to have hearts made of granite and they do not have any tender feelings of love etc.

It was a much loved song when it first started playing on loudspeakers and radio. And as happened with many songs of those days, it was soon forgotten, though it was one song that was very cute and adorable to listen to.

Laxmikant Pyarelal used to get C grade movies viz mythological movies, stunt movies, religious movies etc, when they began their career as music directors. we have seen many music directors who remained confined to such movies throuout their careers without graduating to the mainstream movies.

“Raja aur rank” (1968 ) is a movie that the present generation of movie watchers are not much familiar with, and that is for good reasons too. The movie was eminently forgettable with a flimsy story line. The only well known actor in this movie was Sanjeev Kumar, and he too was a newcomer to Bollywood.
