Quite a few of them were successful and one prominent singer amongst them is Anuradha Paudwal. The very name brings to memory her popular stint in singing filmi and NFS especially bhajans. Her works are well documented and available on the net. The wiki page on her has detailed description regarding her career, awards etc. As such, I shall skip writing on her works.

There are some dates/ months that give working people (at least some of them) nightmares. One such date/ month is the month of July, especially the end of July, when one has to file one’s income tax returns. In India everyone claims to be an income tax payer, but the reality is that only 2% people actually pay income tax in India. Another 4% people file income tax returns but they do not pay income tax (they show zero tax liability in their IT returns). But when Union budget is announced, it is the remaining 94 % people who do not pay any income tax and who rather enjoy government subsidies who make the most hue and cry that their income tax burden had increased. 🙂

“Heer Ranjha” is a tragic romance from Punjabi literature. The story has been used in many films over the years. I know of the 1970 & 1992 versions. The 1970 version had Priya Rajvansh & Raaj Kumar playing the tragic lovers and the Anil Kapoor- Sridevi played the lovers in the 1992 version.

The playback singers used for the songs were Lata Mangeshkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Anand Kumar C, Vinod Sharma, Hemlata, Mukesh & Mohd Rafi.

“Andhaa Kanoon” (1983) was a movie that was produced by A. Purnachandra Rao & directed by T. Rama Rao. Its music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, S.P. Balasubramaniam & Baby Rajeshwari were the playback singer used for the eight songs of the film of which one song Rote rote hansna seekho hanste hanste ronaa was a multi-part song; of which Kishore Kumar had a happy & sad version as also Baby Rajeshwari who got to sing a few lines of the song.

The film also starred Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Helen, Rajendranath, Ramesh Deo, Agha, Birbal, Janakidas, Manmohan, Jr. Mehmood, Keshto Mukherjee, Purnima, Murad, Achala Sachdev, Keshav Rana, Randhir, Birbal, Ram Avtar etc. The film’s music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal. Rajendra Krishan was the lyricist. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle & Mohd Rafi were the playback singers used.
