#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Lyricist/MD Ravindra Jain-Zid 1976)
—————————————
These days I am looking for missing movies of Lyricist Ravindra Jain (of course he is the music director as well), from the seventies, for some obvious reasons.
Recently I came across one such movie which I am not much aware of and I think I never got to listen to its songs. But, after listening to its songs I find the ‘holi’ song a familiar one and I was also surprised that it has not been posted on the blog so far. Most of us are familiar with this lovely song ‘ham dono milke kaaghaz pe dil ke chitthi likhenge, jawaab aayegaa’ from the movie ‘Tumhaari Kasam-1978’. This song used to be played frequently on radio when I was growing up(going by the release date of the movie I was just above ten years of age then).

Yesterday, 13th August was the birthday of Vijayantimala, as she turns 81.
For this celebration, here is a wonderful song performed by her, from the film ‘Phoolon Ki Sej’ (1964). The film is from the banner of Anjali Pictures of Madras, and is produced by Adi Narayan Rao. The film is directed by Inder Raj Anand. The songs in this film are written by Hasrat Jaipuri, and the music is by Adi Narayan Rao. The screenplay of this film is adapted by Inder Raj Anand, from one of the popular novels of Gulshan Nanda – ‘Andhere Chiraagh’.

Today (7 august 2017) is the festival of Raakhi aka rakshabandhan. This festival is being celebrated from time immemorial, may be for more than two thousand years or so. Some interesting tales regarding this festival are mentioned in various sources. It would see that amulets were tied by women on men (not necessarily their brothers) for mens’ protection in ancient times. It was later that this practice took the present day form of sisters tying it on brothers’ wrist.

Mukesh and his Composers – 3
———————————
The off-screen romance between Dev Anand and Suraiyya was well known. On-screen, if there was any song which symbolized the relationship it was this romantic duet from Vidya 1948 sung by Mukesh and Suraiyya.
Hold on. Mukesh giving playback for Dev Anand?. Well, yes, there were 3 occasions in which this rarity occurred. A solo and a duet in Vidya and a duet in Shair with Lata under Ghulam Mohammed.
