“Sanam” (1951) had Suraiyya, Dev Anand, Meena Kumari, K N Singh, Gope, Pratima Devi, Jillo etc in it. In addition to being a box office hit, this movie was a musical blockbuster. I have already discussed five songs from this movie.

For most music lovers,”Bheegi Raat” (1965) is synonymous with its iconic song viz. Dil jo na kah saka. Of course, no Hindi movie worth its salt had only one song in it. This movie too had more songs in it, it is just that the other songs from this movie got overshadowed by the above mentioned song.

What a delightful song it is ! In this song, two ladies are singing about their beloved. I hope they are not singing about the same person, though knowing Hindi movies, a situation like this is not uncommon in Hindi movies.

These are the days of being political correct. Instead of calling a spade a spade, these days we use euphemisms instead. Thus, what was called an imbecile in the past is now called “differently enabled” and what was once called blind is now called “visually impaired”. Those were the days when cutting trees and hunting tigers was considered the in thing. Now these activities are banned.
