The song in this post is a nice composition, albeit a lesser heard song that has been forgotten alongwith its movie which had failed at the box office. This movie is ‘Jaan E Jaan’ or ‘Nikammaa’. This movie was launched in the mid-seventies with the title ‘Nikammaa’, but it got delayed and after completion it was finally released in the year 1983 with the title ‘Jaan E Jaan’. If one watches the movie for first fifteen minutes one can find why it was titled as ‘Nikammaa’ earlier, because its hero Raju, in-spite of being graduate doesn’t have any job and even if somebody recommends him for a job he loses it because he is naive and a simpleton(read stupid).

“Sunny” (1984) was produced by Amarjeet (known for producing the classic ‘Hum Dono’ in 1961 & ‘Gambler’ in 1971) with Bobby Tapia (Amarjeet’s brother) as co-producer. Raj Khosla was the director (I am sure I need not list the movies this director had entertained us with). “Sunny” had music by R. D. Burman & Anand Bakshi was the lyricist. The playback singers used were Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar and Anand Kumar C.

Yesterday 13th May 2025 was the seventy-nineth birthday of Shree Bishwanath Chatterjee compiler of Hindi Film Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980).
This post is delayed on my part as I could not finish it yesterday. Earlier I had planned to visit to Nagpur for this special occasion, but it could not happen. I had spoken to our common friend Mr Avinash Shravane at Nagpur, and we thought that few likeminded friends would also attend this function. But it did not materialize. However, few friends did arrange some program as informed to me by Mr Chatterjee himself, when I called him to wish him on his birthday yesterday. (I am yet to get the updates about the function held yesterday, so that may be covered later 😊).

The song in this post is from the movie ‘Rickshaawaalaa-1973’. I have no recollections of having watched this movie earlier. However, since the music of this film is composed by none other than Rahul Dev Burman, I wish to take up the songs from this movie. So far two songs from this movie have already been posted on the blog. The music of this film is very good. But I think it was forgotten easily as the movie itself was not a successful movie of its time. This movie was a remake of a successful Tamil movie “Rickshawkaran”, which starred the superstar of Tamil Cinema M G Ramachandran. The Tamil movie was released on 29 May 1971, and It was a major commercial success, however its remake in Hindi could not achieve the same success and it turned out to be a disaster.

Today’s song is from the ‘1980’ movie ‘Dhan Daulat’. I never watched this movie in those growing years of mine. And later also I did not get any opportunity to watch it on video or elsewhere. I had noted that this movie was made available on an OTT platform, may be few months back, but now it has been removed from there due to ‘rights’ issue. Moviegoers and music lovers are aware of the most popular song from this movie i.e. the song ‘jeenaa kyaa ajee pyaar binaa’. I too remember to have frequently heard this song either on radio or loudspeakers then. From the remaining songs of this movie the song ‘ho jaaye phir us din kaa jo waadaa hai’, & ‘khudkushi karne dil mein iraadaa kar liya maine’ are also familiar to me. I became aware of the song ‘shikwaa na tumse koi’ when it was posted on the blog under the blog ten-year challenge in 2020. The fifth song from this movie is the song under discussion. I do not remember to have listened to this song before corona years 2020. I have been listening to this song many times ever since and I ave like this song very much.

‘Hifaazat-1973’ was directed by K.S.R. Dass (or Doss) for ‘Balakrishna Movies’. It was produced by R.V. Venkateswarulu and B. Susheela Devi. It had Vinod Mehra, Asha Sachdev, Narendranath, Kumud Chhugani, Coca Cola, Sikandar and Kanhaiyalal. They were supported by Anand, Prem Kumar, Raghavan, Mamta, Baby Indira, Bhima Raju, Balbir Singh, Prakash and Jyothilakshmi. Ashok Kumar, Madan Puri, Ranjeet and Iftekhar had friendly appearances in this movie. Lalita Pawar was the guest artiste in this movie. The editing of this film was done by K.S.R. Das, Kandaswamy where Sivam was his associate. Dialogues of this movie were written by Prem Kapur. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.05.1973.

22nd January is the birth anniversary of a filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, editor and actor, who is known for acclaimed films such as Guide (1965), Teesri Manzil (1966), Jewel Thief (1967) and Johny Mera Naam (1970). He came from a family of filmmakers- producers, editors and actors. He made most of his films under the in-house banner Navketan Films and was part of the Anand Family. He was Vijay Anand a.k.a. “Joshilay-1989” was directed by Sibte Hasan Rizvi for ‘New World Enterprises’. It had Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Satyen Kappu, Alok Nath, Prema Narayan, Rajesh Puri, Rama Vij, Bharat Bhushan and Master Jatin Khurana, Harjeet Walia, Hanif, Agarwal, Bhiku Verma, Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Hemant Mishra, K.L. Shetty, Deepak Kejriwal, Satish Kaushik, Kumud Tripathi, Ashok Sharma, Ami Asthana, Ravi Shastri, Mahendra, Arvind, Deep Dhillon. This movie introduced Rajesh Vivek as ‘Jogi Thakur’. Story, screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Javed Akhtar. Editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. Javed Akhtar also wrote the lyrics of the songs in this movie and music was composed by R.D. Burman. “Joshilay” or “Joshile” was passed by Censor Board on 10.01.1989.
