It was one fine evening in 1960s that I heard a song coming out from the radio. I had never heard this song before, and I loved the song instantly and unconditionally, as kids tend to do.

I know about many older movies, but frankly I had never heard of this movie called “Sitaaraa” (1980). I became aware of this movie and its songs only because of the lyrics of this song sent by Prakashchandra.

“Baalika Badhu” (Child bride) as the name suggests was a movie made on the theme of child marriage. In this movie, Sachin and Rajni Sharma play the children who get married to each other. Sachin has some idea of what marriage is all about but his bride (played by a then thirteen year old Rajni Sharma) is mentally still a child. The dilemma of a teenage boy dealing with his wife who is still a kid was depicted nicely in this movie.
