The movie is called “Jaali Note” viz “couterfeit note”. The movie had Dev Anand and Madhubala in lead roles.
Helen was beginning to make her presence felt in those days in the sense that she was beginning to get a song every movie. This trend of one Helen song per movie would last for nearly two decades.

There is little doubt that this movie “Phir Wohi Dil Laaya hoon” is known mainly for its music. I have already posted a song from this movie. But this was a musical extravaganza so I cannot help but post more songs from this movie. O P Nayyar, who ruled the roost in 1950s as a music director proved with this movie that he was capable of churning out good music in 1960s too.

Most of the songs in this blog are from 1970s and earlier. It does not mean that I do not like songs from 1980s and later. It is just that I lost track of Bollywood music from 1980 onwards. Also, trends like blanant plagiarism, lyrics losing their importance, creation of songs in bad taste, demise of many legends from the scene, etc meant that the music of later decades does not appeal to me as much as the music of earlier decades.

Bollywood songs typically follow a few set patterns when it comes to their picturisation. Songs that are sung by the lead pair tend to be picturised with them running round trees ( I am told) and later running around open spaces ( presumably as a result of deforestation leading to absence of trees to run around).

Aankhon se jo utri hai dil mein

O P Nayyar had taken the Bollywood music world by storm in 1950s.He dominated the Bollywood music scene in the late 1950s the way R D Burman would later dominate in 1970s. If Kishore Kumar was the singer who helped the domination of R D Burman in 1970s, then it was Asha Bhonsle who played a similar role in O P Nayyar’s dominance.
