Atul ji has written about it in his report out with the song “Tu Jo Dil Le Ke Mere Peechhe Peechhe Aayega”. Javed Bhai, one of our group regulars started the topic about how many Hindi film songs are there, and whether we have already got most of them on the blog. To which Atul ji replied that as per Geet Kosh, we have approximately 44,000 songs listed for the first five decades of our film industry, i.e. from 1931 to 1980. Out of these, we a little over 11,000 songs on the blog so far, which works out to be 25% completion only. We have come here after a journey of about seven years. Going by this background, we surely are going to be pretty busy for many more years to come, just to get all the available songs till 1980, on to the blog.
