An interesting observation regarding the Yippeee process for the film that is getting Yippeee’d today. Regular readers would have noticed a pattern in the manner that the films are getting Yippeee’d these days. Generally, in the case of films with just two or three songs remaining to be posted, the last two (or last three) songs kind of appear at a very rapid pace, almost on a daily basis, one right on top of the other. With such films, the penultimate one (or two) songs appear in quick succession followed by the final song of the film, on the next day.

Missing Films of 1960s – 62
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Over a period of time now, more and more films and film songs are becoming available online. Earlier this week itself, Bakshi ji mentioned in one of our conversations that he is now downloading films right on to his smart phone from the internet, and watches them at his convenience. The smart phones are coming up with huge storage memories. The mobile phone service providers are coming up with plans that allow large data volumes to be downloaded. As per him, services like Jio are able to provide good bandwidth, and it does not take long to download a full film. This seems to be a good time for lovers of Hindi films and film music – just log on, do some search and one is able to find many items of interest. And to add, of course, that more and more people are now uploading films and songs online, and sharing with the world.

The name Keshavrao Dhaiber may not ring any bells for most readers of the Blog. He was not as famous as V Shantaram, one of his contemporaries and a colleague in Maharashtra Film Company and later in Prabhat Film Company. I became aware of his name only during the last 2-3 years when I was deep into the film songs of 1930s and 40s. But the name did not interest me much until recently when I came across a song from his film ‘Nand Kumar’ (1938) which made me to study his filmy career.
Kolhapur born Keshavrao Dhaiber (1890-1978) who had done a short stint in the Army as Lancer, started his filmy career in Baburao Painter’s Maharashtra Film Company, Kolhapur as an actor and a technician in the early 1920s. Here, he came in contact with V Shantaram. Both of them made their debuts as directors for a silent film– Netaji Palkar (1927) which they co-directed. In 1929, due to differences with Baburao Painter, V Shantaram and Keshavrao Dhaiber left Maharashtra Film Company and formed Prabhat Film Company along with V G Damle, Fatehlal and Sitaram Kulkarni in Kolhapur. Under this banner, Keshavrao Dhaiber and V Shantaram co-directed 3 silent films – ‘Khooni Khanjar’ (1930), ‘Rani Saheeba’ (1930) and ‘Udaykaal’ (1931). He got his first film as an independent director in ‘Zuloom’ (1931), a silent film. [Source: Encyclopaedia of Indian Cinema – Ashish Rajadhyaksha].

23rd Dec…
One of the most Memorable day in my life. That day my bundle of joy was born. A sweet little baby. Hence everybody called her sweety. I still remember lot of her child hood mannerisms…My son had stiff resistance to drinking milk. But, my daughter, at the age of say 6 months …the moment she hears the activities of milk preparing will rush to the pillow and lie down face up to be ready for drinking milk…
