This series was basically inspired by an article on the blog ‘Pancham and Only Pancham’ – and the title of the article is ‘Tribute to Rafi Sahab on 28th Death Anniversary‘, published on Rafi Sb’s twenty-eighth ‘Remembrance Anniversary’ on 31.07.2008. Just to list a few of the famous Rafi solos and duets for Johny Walker.
This series is about collaborations and team work by Rafi Sahab for various artists, mainly with composers, singers and lyricists. But since the song I stumbled upon is too good, atypical rendition by Rafi Sahab for Johnny Walker, as we know the veteran comic actor. So I have included this in the series.

Hullo Atuldom
There is a popular movie of the late ’70s, that has had a rather slow journey through the blog. With this post I hope to bring it to the YYIIPPEEEE station.
It began its journey on the blog with its most iconic song. A song that gave its singer -the legend Mohd. Rafi the National Award for best singer as well as that year’s Filmfare award. The song sort of put all doubting Thomas(es) in their place.

A hundred years today. Being celebrated by the 700th post on our blog.
Sahir Ludhianvi – the “. . . Pal Do Pal Ka Shaayar. . .“, who would be actually “. . . Har Ik Pal Ka Shaayar. . .“, being relevant for all times, and responsive to all the pitfalls and tragedies of the human experience. So began the article published in the Urdu magazine ‘Fann Aur Shakhsiyat’ (Sahir number), dated 22nd July 1958, written by Khwaaja Ahmed Abbas.

Missing Films of 1960s – 116

Ah, wonderful. Revisiting an old friend after a very long gap. Feels good.
This series was initiated on 30th Sep, 2015, almost 5 years ago to the day. The series continued with a certain regularity almost for four years, till 1st July, 2019. That day, I had posted a rarest of the rare finds – “Taaron Bhari Raat Hai” – a song from the film ‘Hawa Mahal’ (1962), a film which is very much available in video, but sadly all its songs have been axed from the VCD release. I had written in that post, that I had even gone beyond the VCD version and searched out the VHS cassette of the film, and even that had no songs. But fortunately, searching thru film, I accidentally chanced to catch half a song that appeared at the end of the film. Probably, when the editors were making the cuts, for whatever reasons (which we do not know at this point), they had missed out the closing shots of the film, whereat one song is repeated partially as is the tradition followed in many Hindi films we know.
