Today’s song is from the 1974 movie ‘Hawas’. This movie is mostly known by its song “Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakkhenge Kadam“. I remember that this song was frequently played on radio and loud speakers in those years. And I too associate this movie only with this song and had never tried to listen to the other songs of this movie. And yes, I never get to watch this movie until now.

Aah yes, this one too. This iconic and popular song from the 1969 film ‘Jeene Ki Raah’, reappeared in a shorter version in the 1972 film ‘Baazigar’. Albeit the use of this song is somewhat casual, and does not seem to fulfill any purpose, symbolic or otherwise. Seems like a time filler, as one goes through the initial part of the film.

So another new year is upon us. 2016 is gone and now we are into 2017. Celestially speaking, the earth has completed one full circle round the sun during this period. There has been a close relationship between Urdu/Hindi poets and Hindi film industry especially after the advent of talkie films in 1931.
