Karva chauth is a festival mainly associated with womenfolk, and as a result it is often forgotten by men. It is similar to men forgetting their wedding anniversaries, wife’s birthday etc. What does one do, when one realises this fact late ? One hurries up to make amends. And that is what I am trying to do just now. I have realised late that today is Karwa chauth festival, and so at this late hour, I am trying to push through some karwa chauth festival songs. 🙂

“Ishq Par Zor Nahin” (1970) is a movie produced by “Twinkle Stars” production. Suresh Saigal was the producer whereas Ramesh Saigal directed the movie. Unlike Ramse Brothers, these Saigal brothers did not produce Horror movies, I am sure.:)

I am aware of a 1954 movie called “Mastaana” (1954). Now, thanks to the lyrics of a song, which were sent to be by Prakashchnadra, I am now become aware of another movie of the same name which was released in 1970.

As a poetry form, qawwali originated in Persia and traveled to the subcontinent, during the emergence of the Sufi philosophers in the 12th and 13th centuries. In its original form, its intent is to sing the praises of Allaah, the Almighty, Prophet Muhammad, and other saints. The art was exclusively performed at places of religious worship and at dragaahs (mausoleums) of revered saints and teachers. Till a few days ago, I was not aware that Shammi Kapoor had worked opposite Bina Rai in a movie and that he had worked in a movie with music by Roshan. After I came to know of the songs of “Wallah Kya Baat Hai” (1962) I realised that this movie starred Shammi Kapoor and Bina Rai and it had music by Roshan. Other actors of this movie were Nishi, K.N.Singh, Maruti, Tuntun, Abhi Bhattacharya, Mumtaz,Jankidass, Munshi Munaqqa, Rajan Kapoor etc. This movie was directed by Hari Walia.
