The biggest bollywood hit of all time was “Sholay” that was released in 1975. This movie played on the same movie hall of Bombay for many years. When this movie was finally withdrawn, it was replaced by another movie, which was being so hyped those days that everyone felt it was going to be the biggest movie in Bollywood history, bigger than even “Sholay”. But when “Sholay” was finally replaced by thise movie whose title sounded similar, viz “Shalimar”, this movie “Shalimar” turned out to be the biggest damp squib in the history of Bollywood.

The movie “Pavitra Paapi” is by and large forgotten. The fact that this movie had the lyrics and music by Prem Dhawan is also not known to many. But this forgotten movie has a song that is extremely well known.

Kishore Kumar as an actor-cum Singer had started to figure in movies in 1950s. In many movies, he was even the hero.
New Delhi (1956) was one such movie. One thing that I epecially find appealing is the fact that one gets to see about Delhi of 1950s in this movie, and that Delhi is so different from the present day Delhi that we know.

It is undeniably one of the funniest picturisation of a funny song in the history of Bollywood movies. Kishore Kumar and Mehmood, two of the funniest men in Bollywood combine in this song, along with a support cast of Sunil Dutt, Saira Bano and others, and the result is a laugh riot.

Gum hai kisi ke pyaar mein

This movie “Rampur ka Laxman” is by and large forgotten by now. It had many newcomers in it, including Randhir Kapoor, Rekha, Shatrughan Sinha etc.
Movie may have been forgotten by now, but its songs are not. Though the songs were supposed to be timepass songs, many of them became popular not only during their time, but stayed popular with the passage of time as well. It speaks for the quality of these songs and their creators that we still like to listen to these songs.
