I have mentioned it in my previous post that I am at present visually hamstrung. I am unable to see what I am typing since I have forgotten my glasses at home. There are terms like touch typing, typing with two fingers etc, and I suppose I can add another term, viz typing by guesswork as well. I can barely see the letters on the keyboard but I am an experienced keyboard warrior and so my fingers tend to move to the correct keys almost like second nature. So I hope that I am typing correctly without too many typos.

“Shera Daaku” (1966) was a B grade movie. It was produced by Laxmichitra Productions and directed by Radhakant. The movie had Randhawa, Sheikh Mukhtar, Nishi, Amar, Rajen Kapoor, Sunder etc in it.

“Chandramukhi” (1960) was a Kanti Production movie. It was directed by R Thakur. This B grade movie had Manhar Desai, Kavita, B. M. Vyas, Maruti etc in it.

During 1960s and 1970s, the quality of public involvement with movies and music tended to be of a higher level than what it is now. Movie magazines those days used to give reports on the progress of movies that were under production. Once the movies were released, magazines would give a summary of the story of the movies as well as their reviews. Not just that, books would be published that would give the detailed screenplay of movies.

With the success of “Chor Machaaye Shor” (1974), Shashi Kapoor had become a much sought after actor.Shashi Kapoor decided to make hay while the sun shone and he signed up each and every offer that came his way. Shashi Kapoor signed up so many movies that he did not have dates to give for his various producers for shooting. Normally actors give “dates” in units of “shifts” for shooting, where one shift consists of six hours (I may be incorrect about the duration of a shift. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on a “shift”). But Shashi Kapoor began to give time in hours for shooting, much to the chagrin of his producers, including Raj Kapoor, his own brother.

‘Begaanaa’ is a 1963 production from the banner of Sadashiv Chitra, produced and directed by Sadashi J Rao ‘Kavi’. The main star cast includes Dharmendra, Supriya Choudhry, Shailesh Kumar, Madhavi, Manorama, Tarun Bose, Chandrima Bhaduri, Badri Prasad, Rajan Haksar, Babloo, Agha. This is one of the earlier films of Dharmendra who had made his debut with Arjun Hingirani’s film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ in 1960.

‘Yaasmeen’, a film from 1955 is well known for some wonderful gems coming from the pen of Jaan Nisaar Akhtar and the music composition by C Ramchandra. The film has ten songs out of which four are already represented on this blog, including the evergreen iconic rendering of “Bechain Nazar Betaab Jigar” by Talat Mehmood, and “Mujh Pe Ilzaam e Bewafaai Hai” by Lata Mangeshkar. When Raja pointed it out to me that today (10 may) was Kaifi Azmi’s death anniversary, I began to look for a few songs to discuss. It may sound easy but searching for a Kaifi Azmi song (or for that matter any other artist’s songs) is not a simple affair if that artist is well represented in the blog. More than one hundred of Kaifi Azmi’s songs have already been discussed in the blog. In other words, most well known Kaifi Azmi songs are already there, and only the lesser known songs remain to be discussed. I have already discussed one such lesser known song of Kaifi Azmi. And here is another song which is also quite an obscure song.
