In 1950s, Mukesh was trying hard to be an actor-singer. He was producing his own movies in which he would be the hero and naturally he would sing his own songs. His career as a singer was sugffering as a result, because he was not getting too many assignments as a playback singer. To make matters worse, the movies that he produced and acted in, were proving out to be box office disasters.

This movie had singers like Rafi,Lata, Manna Dey,Hemant Kumar,Asha Bhonsle and Suman Kalyanpuri. And this movie has duets sung by Rafi and Lata, Rafi and Asha Bhonsle, as well as Hemant Kumar and Suman Kalyanpur. In fact, Asha Bhonsle and Rafi sing as many as four duets in this movie.
