Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 80

Sometime early this year I had posted a peppy number from the movie “Bada Kabootar” (1973). That rare song was the 15th in this series.

Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-5

My previous post in this series had a duet song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Suresh Wadkar for the movie ‘Palay Khan-1986’. Incidentally, in this post we again have a duet song by the same singers, but coming from the pen of another lyricist.

This song is from the movie “Apne Apne-1987” which was directed by Ramesh Behl for ‘Rose Movies’. It was passed by Censor Board on 05.03.1987. Ramesh Behl, who directed this movie, was also the producer of this movie. The cast of this movie included Jeetendra, Rekha, Karan Shah, and Mandakini, with Satish Shah, Atlee Brar, Dan Dhanoa, Sushma Seth, Bina, Babli, Anjana, Ghanshyam, Chandu, Pandurang Boloor, Lata, Sheela, Leena, Mina, Tina, Rupa, Omi Chopra, Surendra, Rahi, Vasu, Iqbal, Rakesh, Reshma Aurora, Anthony, Prakash, and Kader Khan. Hema Malini had a special appearance in this movie. This movie was written by Aziz Qaisi. Sunder Shetty was the editor of this movie.

In the series of Pancham’s duet compositions from the eighties-nineties, today we introduce a duet song from the movie ‘Palay Khan-1986’.

This movie ‘Palay Khan-1986’ also makes its debut on the blog today.

This movie was produced by Skahti Samanta and directed by Ashim Samanta for Untied Producers & Shakti Films. It was passed by Censor Board on 03.12.1986. It had Jackie Shroff, Poonam Dhillon, Farha Naaz, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor and Anupam Kher. They were supported by Sushma Seth, Puneet Issar, Satyen Kappu, Dinesh Thakur, Mac Mohan, Roopesh Kumar, Bob Christo, Kamal Kapoor, Tom Alter, Manek Irani, Zubeda, Rasinder Singh, Tito Singh, Mahender Tyagi, Tarana, Shivangi, Gurvinder, Abhishek Ahuja and others. Today’s Pancham’s duet composition is from the movie ‘Laavaa’ or ‘Lava-1985’. This movie was directed by Ravindra Peepat for ‘Meera Enterprises, Bombay’. This was Ravindra Peepat’s debut as a director. ‘Lava-1985’ was produced by Smt Balbir Kaur. The cast of this movie included Asha Parekh, Dimple Kapadia, Raj Babbar, Rajiv Kapoor, Madan Puri, Rajendra Nath, Narendra Nath, Sashi Saxena, Sudhir, Geet Khanna, Anees Bazmee, Pradeep Suri and others. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Vikas Anand, and Rama Vij had a friendly appearance in this movie.

‘Lava’ had eight songs including one three part song, which has already been posted on this blog earlier. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist for all the songs in this movie and music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman. The playback singers for this movie are Asha Bhonsle, Manmohan Singh, Kishore Kumar, Shailendra Singh, and Lata Mangeshkar.

Today’s duet song is from the movie ‘Hum Hain Laajawaab-1984’. It is another Kumar Gaurav starrer movie from the eighties having some good music by R.D. Burman.

Welcome all to this post, where we are covering a duet song composed by Rahul Dev Burman fondly known as Pancham. I had earlier presented Pancham’s compositions from the eighties. With this post, we will be listening to duet songs composed by Pancham from the eighties and subsequently the nineties.

The song being covered in this article is from the movie ‘Romance-1983’. This movie was another Kumar Gaurav movie that had its title in English, like his film ‘Love Story-1981’ followed by ‘Star-1982’, and ‘Lovers-1983’.

In this post I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Mazdoor-1983’.

While covering songs from movies released in 1983, I had mentioned that it was
an important year of my life as I had appeared and successfully passed the 10th standard Board exams that year. The other important and unforgettable event of the year was India winning the ‘World Cup of Cricket’ that year.

For Cricket fans like me that summer of 1983 turned out to be the most memorable and unforgettable as Kapil’s Devils clinched the ‘first world cup title’ for India in June’1983. Given my age that time I was more interested in cricket, movies, books, and study to pass the important examination.

Yet another rarely heard song of Asha Bhosle – “Kya Gazab Karte Ho Ji “ from “Love Story” (1981). It was written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R D Burman.

“Love Story” was jointly directed by Rahul Rawail and Rajendra Kumar, with Rajendra Kumar producing the film, under the banner “Dimple” films. The movie starred Kumar Gaurav, Vijayeta Pandit, Rajendra Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Danny Denzongpa, Amjad Khan, Jagdish Raj, T.P. Jain, Kamaldeep, Azad, Jezebel, Gufi Paintal, Farooque Shorty, Subhash, Amarjeet Sunder, Hangama, Shakeel, Laxman Thumre, Aruna Irani, Prem Kalra, Dev Kumar, Ram Mohan, Bharat Kapoor, Ram Sethi, Bina. The music is by R. D. Burman and lyrics by Anand Bakshi.
