#Drunkard Songs -2 #
If the first part of my drunkard series, I had mentioned that lots of drunkard songs were released in 1974. 1983, a noslagia filled year for me also seems to be rich in this genre of songs.
The drunkard song that I am presenting in this post is from ‘Farishta-1983’.
“Farishta 1984” was Pran Saab’s presentation for his home production ‘Sikand Films’. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 13.10.1983. It was directed by Sunil Sikand (Pran Saab’s son), who was also the Producer and Story writer of this movie. He also co-authored the Screenplay of this movie with Tapan Chakravarty. The cast of this movie included Ashok Kumar, Kanwaljeet Singh, Master Raju, Ambika Shourie, Danny and Pran. Bharat Bhushan, Azaad and Master Rajiv Bhatia also had supportive roles in this movie. The movie introduced – Shera – a wonder dog in this movie. Smita Patil makes a special appearance in this movie.

When Atul started his alphabetical series of actresses who have lip-synced to Asha Bhosle’s voice, I suggested the names of some actresses who were missing from the list. I also sent the respective songs. Amala’s name was on my list, along with the song “Step by Step” from Dost (1989). When I asked Atul if he would mind my writing a post on the song, he replied that he would welcome it. This is how this contribution of mine came about after a long hiatus from this resourceful blog.
I became aware of Amala through her first Hindi film, Pushpak (1987). The film made quite a splash in the Hindi film industry, as it was a silent movie released in the middle of a decade that was full of very loud films. I did not have the chance to watch it in a cinema hall at the time. Amala looked quite different from the usual Hindi heroines of that era. In her interviews, she came across as a very sympathetic person who was actively involved in efforts against cruelty to animals. This brings us to the plot of the movie in question.

YEAR 1983-1
Recently our team member Peevesie’s Mom jee had shared a song from the movie ‘Naukar Biwi Ka’, which is a movie from the year 1983.
We know that this year -1983-was a special year from the point of view of Indian cricket lovers. It was in this year that the unfancied Indian Cricket Team unexpectedly won the Cricket World Cup.
As far as movies were concerned, 1983 was the year of comeback of Rajesh Khanna.
On the personal front, it was a very important year for me as a Cricket fan as well as a student. 1983 was the most important year of my student life. I had appeared and successfully 😊 cleared my Board Exams of standard Xth.

‘Ishq Ishq Ishq-1974’ was directed by Dev Anand for his home productions ‘Navketan International Films Pvt Ltd, Bombay’. It was a ‘social movie’ passed by the Censor Board on 08.11.1974. I was more than six years old when this movie was released. However, I have no recollections of watching this movie at that time. I did not get to watch this movie even later. This movie is available online and I may watch it there in future. However, our dear Satyajit jee has watched this movie and he has given the story of this movie as follows:-
