“Chacha Chawdhary” (1953) was one of the earlier movies of Madan Mohan as a music director.
This movie is interesting in the sense that Madan Mohan in this movie preferred Asha Bhonsle over Lata for singing female solos. All the female solos in this movie have been sung by Asha Bhonsle. Lata has only figured in duets.

“Gehra Daagh” was a movie of 1963. I was not aware about this movie till recently ( that is till yesterday).
This movie had Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha in lead roles.
Just because I was not aware of this movie does not mean this movie has unknown songs. Take this song from this movie. This song “tumhe paake hamne jahaan paa liyaa hai” is a duet sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi. I am sure that I have listened to this song many a times in the past, though I was not paying much attention on those occasions.

I had never heard about this movie called “Main Suhagan Hoon”(1964). I have never heard about the lead actors of this movie. And I have never heard about the music director. So what does this say about this song ? That it must be just another forgotten song from the past ?

Joy Mukherji, Debu Mukherji and Somu Mukherji were brothers and they were from a well connected family. Their father was Shashdhar Mukherji, a big name in Bollywood movie making. Their uncle (chacha) was Subodh Mukherji, the well known movie producer. From their mother’s side, they were connected to Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar, who were their mamas.

TV serial makers these days tend to take the title of some old movie and use it as the title of their serials. “Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi”, for instance, was a movie of the same name in 1970. Similarly, “Hare kaanch ki choodiyaan” was a movie of 1967.

I had not heard about this movie called “Nai Roshni” (1967). When I came to know that this movie had music by Ravi then I was certain that this movie would surely have some nice songs.
