Hullo Atuldom
Before beginning this post, I googled to check out movies starring Sunil Dutt that has music by Laxmikant- Pyarelal. The reason for this search was to remember Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar (of the L-P duo) who passed away on 25th May 1998 & Sunil Dutt who left this mortal world on the same date in 2005. Like on previous occasions, the first result from Google was the 1967 hit ‘Milan’. Of course that is a movie that has long been YYIIPPEEEEd on the blog.
A hunt through the films starring Sunil Dutt helped me dig out a film that released in 1980.

Hullo Atuldom
The blog has songs from “Shri 420” (1955), “Shrimati 420” (1956) & “Ustaad 420” (1969) – from which “Shrimati 420” is one short from being YYIIPPEEEED. Hindi films have a few more ‘420’ (char sau bees). There is a “Khiladi 420” which came in 2000 & “Chachi 420” which released in 1997. These are the 420/s that I know of, there may be one or two more films with ‘420’ in their title.

The movie had Jeetedra,Mumtaz, Prem Chopra, K.N.Singh, Naaz, Asit Sen, Tun tun, Pravin Paul, Aruna Irani, Bobby, Jagdeep,Prabhakar Reddy, Ananda Mohan, Puranik, Premkumar, J.N.Anand, Kiran, Joshi, Nadir, Mamajee, Akhtar, Pande, Pratibha, Raja Rao, Brahm Bhardwaj etc in it. The movie also had guest appearances by Agha, Lata Arora, Master Sachin, Jayadev and club dancer Lakshmi.

The search for songs of Mukesh continues as we close in on his last set of remaining songs that are yet unpublished on the blog. With the current count (prior to this post) at 818, there still is a good number of songs to be tracked and brought on board. The revised and updated Mukesh Geet Kosh (compiled by Shri Harish Raguvanshi of Surat) which was released in November of 2020, puts the number of Hindi songs identified at 980. Today (11 August 2022) is Rakshabandhan. This is the 15th Rakshabandhan for this blog. The first Rakshabandhan for the blog fell on 16 August 2008. That day saw the iconic Rakshabandhan song namely Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana (Chhoti Bahan)(1959) getting covered on the blog.
On those early days, only one song was discussed in a day. Subsequently multiple songs began to be covered daily. Festival days were no exception. So more than one Rakshabandhan songs were also discussed in the subsequent occasions.

Regulars may have noticed lack of activity in the blog on my part for the last ten odd days. From June 25 till June 28, 7 posts were published and all these articles were posted by Sudhir jee. I had specifically requested him on 24 June 2022 that “it will be difficult for me to find time for publishing new posts from 24 june till 27 June. So I request you to uphold the blog flag for these four days.”
Sudhir jee had promised to do the needful, viz ensuring that we had at least one post on each of these days. He ended up publishing four posts on 27 June 2022, prompted by an over-enthusiastic Avinash Scrapwala, who sent many RD Burman write ups on that day for publication. 🙂

“Five Rifles” (1974) was produced and directed by I.S. Johar. I think it was also written by I.S.Johar. Anyone who used to see the movies in the 70s will recall that the male actors – won’t call them protagonist or heroes- were look-alikes of Shashi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna; credited in the movie’s titles as Shahi Kapoor and Rakesh Khanna. The others in the cast were Ambika Johar (in a double role), Veena, D.K. Sapru, Murad, Kamal Kapoor (in one of his many videshi, police commissioner acts), Anil Johar, Satyadeep etc. and I.S. Johar, of course. The songs of the movie were written by Rajinder Krishan and Indeevar.
