As Tapori songs go, this was creme de la creme of its genre which I liked a lot in 1970s. And guess what, I forgot all about this song. That is, till two days ago, when I accidentally stumbled upon this song again. And this time I realised that the song was from “Anokhi Ada”, the movie from which I have posted two songs already !

I just expounded on my theory that Amitabh Bachchan tended to have quite a few “friendship” songs in his movies. In fact, the title of two of his movies themselves were friendship based- viz “Dostana” and “Yaraana”, both meaning “friendship”. Of course, there were “friendship” songs even in those Amitabh movies whose titles were different- viz in movies like “Zanjeer”, “Hera Pheri”,”Ram Balram” etc.

Amitabh Bachchan movies in 1970s tended to have quite a few songs about friendships. “Lahu ke do rang” is a movie that would be loved by Helen’s fans. Here she plays a long and important role. Similarly, this movie would be loved by the fans of Vinod Khanna, Danny and Ranjeet too. Yes, all these baddies ( Vinod Khanna had become a hero by that time, though) are present in this movie.

Here is one song from “Thhodi si bewafaai”. The hopes, aspirations, egos etc of a couple have been described so beautifully that one cannot but help admire Gulzar’s penmanship. What amazingly great lyrics he could conjure up ! And he had a very good understanding with his music directors. No doubt, Gulzar and Khayyam came up with some soul stirring numbers in this movie.
