“Bandish” (1980) was a movie starring Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini. This was a Rajesh Khanna movie in his second phase as an actor after he had lost his superstardom. He tried very hard to regain his superstardom, but it was too late for him by that time. Typically his stellar performance in these movies would meet wit lukewarm response from movie goers. It was in such stark contrast to the response of public in his superstardom days when his appearance in the credits of a movie was all that was needed to bring in the crowds.

By now I am no longer surprised or shocked by this fact that many great songs of yesteryears have been allowed to be lost to oblivion. Indians by and large are not keen students of history and they do not have much appreciation of their rich legacy, so showing callous disregard to such great works of art will naturally follow.

It was pointed out to me by readers that songs of “Khandaan” (1965) were conspicuous by their absence in the blog. Not just that, I was gently given the hint to discuss the songs of this movie with the lyrics of songs to this movie being e mailed to me. I have succumbed to the persuasion 😀 and as many as two songs from this movie have been discussed in the blog so far.

“Ye Dil Kisko Doon” (1963) is not a well known movie as far as I am concerned. This movie had Shashi Kapoor and Raagini in it. May be that has something to do with the obscurity of this movie. 😀
