The film was made for Jeevan Pictures, Bombay. It was directed by G.P. aka Ganapatrao Pawar. He was the second husband of Lalita Pawar. The music was by C.Balaji. The cast of the film was Kanta Kumari, Madhav Kale, Indira Wadkar, Shakuntala Paranjape (it was her last Hindi film), Vimal Ghaisas (a renowned stage actress), Omkar Devaskar, Raja Pandit ( he was an actor, director and producer. Today’s song is from an obscure movie ‘Caravan’1944. This ‘stunt movie’ was directed by Aspi for Ranjeet Movietone, Bombay. It had Arun, Kamala Chatterjee, Rani, Premlata, Keshri and others.
Geet Kosh lists as many as fifteen songs for this movie including one two version song. There were four lyricists in this movie viz. Swami Ramanand, Munshi Aziz, Pandit Indra and Sharma. Music was composed by Bulo C Rani. The playback singers for this movie are Ameerbai Karnataki, Bhola, Arun, and Zohrabai Ambalewali.

Today’s song is a Parody song from the film Refugee aka Sharanarthi-1948. The film was produced by Harishchandra Rao Kadam for his own banner Harishchandra Pictures, Bombay.
This film was a “First time” for 3 persons.
First was the producer and lead actor of the film- Harishchandra Rao Kadam himself. He was basically a “C” grade action and stunt film producer. This was his first ‘Social film, which was also his last social film, as he then returned to his comfort zone of stunt films.
Second was the MD of the film Ajit Merchant. This was his first film as an Independent Music Director. So far he was an assistant to Ashok Ghosh and then Anil Biswas. The third was the singer Sulochana Kadam. She acted in this film for the first time. Later she did one more film.

One host country is selected for every world environment day. This year, Azerbaijan is the host country for World Environment Day. The national theme adopted by the host country Azerbaijan for this years World Environment Day is ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future’. The global World Environment Day celebrations operate under United Nations Environment Program campaign banner which is ‘#NowForClimate’.

#the Decade of Fourties – 1941 – 1950 #
Regulars on the blog are well aware that I have been sharing songs sung by Sulochana Kadam for a long time. Our blog statistics page does not mention the total number of songs sung by her. I guess that the correct figure is yet to be confirmed. However we have so far covered more than one hundred songs sung by her. I have noted that coverage of her song has slowed down after her century of songs was reached in the blog.
I am on the look out for songs sung by her that are not yet covered on this blog. Today I came across this song which was for long considered as a lost song. However, a music lover has uploaded this song on internet. It is from the movie ‘Krishna Sudaama-1947’.

Today’s song is from an 82 year old film Shukriya-1944. It was a Comedy Social film, made by Talwar productions. Bombay- owned by Producer and Director R.C.Talwar. R.C.Talwar aka Raghubir Chand Talwar was born on 21-4-1910,at Tollygunge,in Western Punjab-now in Pakistan. His film life, as many others of his ilk, started in Calcutta and ended in Bombay. While at Calcutta, he worked as an assistant to Kidar Sharma. After the success of the film, Aulad / Dil Hi Toh Hai (1939) , the film’s heroine Ramola got romantically involved with R.C. Talwar, Kidar Sharma’s assistant who later became a director in his own right. According to Kidar Sharma, “R.C. Talwar was a classmate and friend so I ignored his relationship with Ramola.”
He was a screenplay writer, producer and Director.Starting from Manchali-43,produced by Talwar productions,Calcutta,which he had established there,Talwar directed films like Albeli, Khiladi, Sangdil, Ilzam, Rukhsana, Memsahib, Ek dil sau afsane and Naya Kanoon-1965.He produced 2 films,Sangdil and Memsahib-for which he had written the screenplay also.
