Though “Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka” (1975) is a recent movie by the standards of this blog, this movie is not all that well known today. Perhaps a TV serial of the same name has hijacked the title and that has pushed the information about the movie of 1975 back.

Today (7 august) is the third death anniversary of Gulshan Kumar Mehta, better known as Gulshan Baawra. Gulshan Baawra (April 12, 1937- August 7, 2009) had written some memorable lyrics in Hindi movies. As a lyricist, he mostly worked with Kalyanji Anandji.

When I was growing us in late 1960s and 1970s, I was only aware of a few festivals when we had holidays. There were days like Holi, Deewaali, Raksha Bandhan,Durga Puja (Dashara), Id, Chrishmas etc. Then there were a few days thaat were known as days, viz Children’s day (Jawaharlal Nehru’s bithday), Teacher’s day (Radhakrishnan’s birthday) etc.
