Most Raakhi songs in Hindi movies are sung by females playing non working sisters and they genuinely pray for the well being of their sisters. With time, even sisters in Hindi movies have become working women. And they do not just do the usual jobs meant for ladies, but they often work in jobs of masculine nature, viz in police.

Normally it is believed that old songs are obscure songs and new songs are better known songs. But that is not always the case. I find that several recent songs (anything created in 1970s and later are recent by the standards of this blog. 😀 ) have been forgotten in double quick time.

When I meet people and I tell them that I have a blog of old songs, I get some well meaning advices, suggestions etc. One of these well meaning suggestions is that I need not re invent the wheel as far as writing down the lyrics of the song is concerned. This song from “Shahanshah”(1988) wears many hats. this song is not only the movie opening song, this is also the theme song as well as the title song. In addition this song is also the introdution song that introduces us to the main character of the movie, viz Shahanshah, played by Amitabh Bachchan.
