Hullo Atuldom
At the outset I must admit that I am a little confused as I write this post. The person/ celebrity/ actress/ star for whose birthday this is, has aged gracefully and looks fabulous even now. But I am confused about her year of birth. When I wrote this post Phir Bhor Bhayee Jaaga Madhuban in 2018 I found information on various sites on the internet by which I had mentioned that she was turning 64. Over the last few weeks I am finding information by which she would be 74 this year. Can a person age 10 years in two years?

Remembrance day for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:
Since 31st July, I am on an unprecedented spree of anniversary and birthday posts. When I scrolled down the month of August in the “Anniversary dates” page of the blog, I saw that on 16th August there are three birthdays and one death Anniversary. Birthdate is of Hemlata, Saif Ali Khan and Manisha Koirala. Incidentally both Manisha Koirala and Saif share not just the birthdate, but the year too, both born in 1970. So both are turning 50 today.

Happy Independence Day
15th August- a very very important day in the life of any Indian. The day we are thankful to our predecessors who laid down their lives for getting us freedom from foreign rule.
Predecessors includes even those unnamed freedom fighters who walked along with the leaders of those times. It includes those who did not like to be ordered around by people who didn’t have an iota of understanding why India was the way it was.

My first introduction to this actress of pronounced and natural underplay, was ‘Chit Chor’ of 1976. Yes, for a brief time, the phrase used for her was ‘Chit Chor Girl’. The debut was impressive and the performance in ‘Chit Chor’ was followed up in 1977 with another superb performance in the film ‘Gharonda’.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 39

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Joru Ka Ghulaam’ a movie released in 2000. By the standards of the blog it is ‘new’ movie, but if we think about it dispassionately, 2000 was 20 years ago, and so this movie is already twenty years old by now. That is how time flies!!
The name ‘Joru Ka Ghulaam’ will also remind readers of the Rajesh Khanna movie of the same name that was released in 1972. That movie was considered to be unsuccessful at the box office at that time, but now some online sites (perhaps run by people who were not born by 1972) claim that it was a ‘hit’ movie. This movie of 1972 had some nice songs in it. Nainon mein nindiyaa hai was my most favorite song from this movie. All songs of this movie have already been covered in the blog.

Hullo Atuldom
In one of his recent posts our Avinash ji has suggested that there should be a category of posts – ‘Post inspired by fellow Atulite’ or ‘Post inspired by Atulite WA group chat’. I would like to borrow a phrase from Sudhir ji ‘thank you for the nudge’ and direct it towards Avinash ji. If not for Avinash ji I would have written this post a month later. Don’t know how I mixed up dates. And there have been posts wherein Atul ji has credited me with being good at remembering dates. It is not so Atul ji, calendars also need reminders.

This is one of the songs of which made an impact at the time of watching the film. I had seen this film ‘Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani’ in theatre. This was before the multiplexes, so there were only the theatres, where the folks went to see the movie.
Now in multiplexes which are always above malls, there is the added temptation of shopping. This must be the reason, my husband is so reluctant to go to watch a movie. Over the last few years, I have also lost all interest in watching movies, altogether. As a weekend approaches, I am thinking I want to see this film or that film. Some of those I have seen earlier or some which I have never seen. But the weekend comes and goes, without my attempting to watch them. There must be lot of reasons for this lack of motivation.

Sai Paranjpye has so far directed 8 feature films in Hindi. She has written story and script for all these films. Each of these films has some interesting background as to what prompted her to make those films. In this article, I am covering her film ‘Saaz’ (1997) which was produced by Amit Khanna under the banner ‘Pulse Films’ of the Plus Channel of which he was the managing director during 1989-2000.
