Today 12th January 2023 is the sixty-fifth birthday of actor Arun Govil. (He was born on 12th January 1958).
Arun Govil made his debut in Hindi Films in 1977 in the movie ‘Paheli’. However the main hero in this movie was Satyajeet. After ‘Paheli-1977’, he quickly graduated to lead roles in Rajshree Production movies such as ‘Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin’, ‘Saawan Ko Aane Do’ and ‘Radha Aur Seeta’. All these three movies were released in the year ‘1979’. While ‘Raadha Aur Seeta’ didn’t fare well commercially, ‘Saawan Ko Aane Do’ was a highly successful movie of its time and ‘Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin’ was also a decently successful movie though not on the scale of ‘Saawan Ko Aane Do’.

Hullo Atuldom
Today’s song is from a forgotten movie of the late 1970s “Bagula Bhagat” (1979). It was directed by Harmesh Malhotra and produced by Gullu Sippy. It had a cast of Ashok Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Kamini Kaushal, Padma Khanna, Mehmood Jr. etc. I think I saw a short video of the movie online somewhere and think I spied Anwar Hussain and Goga Kapoor as his henchman. It had music by Kalyanji Anandji and songs written by Anjaan. Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Amit Kumar and Asha Bhonsle as playback singers. The movie was written by Subhash Ghai and Bhalla.

Today 13th May’2022 is the seventy-sixth birthday of Shri Bishwanath Chatterjee compiler of Hindi Film Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980). Those who have the copy of this Geet Kosh would have read about his brief introduction on the cover page no.2 of this Geet Kosh.
He has also been a co-compiler with Shri Hamraz ji for HGK Vol-I to Vol-IV etc. and a co-compiler with Shri Hamraz ji for the ‘List of Hindi Films (Talkie) – 1931-1987.
He has also been a co-author/co-editor with Vishwas Nerurkar for the books on Khayyam Saab, Kishore Kumar, Vasant Desai and Sudhir Phadke.

“Naukar” (1979) was produced by Ismail Memon & Govind Ahuja, directed by Ismail Memon, music was composed by R D Burman and the songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Mohd. Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar were the playback singers used for the five songs, three of which are on the blog.
