‘Daakiyaa daak laaya!! Daakiyaa daak laaya!!’
No, I was not that much aware of this song in my childhood when I was a school going child, but I remember the characteristic ringing of the ‘cycle bell’ which signalled the arrival of the ‘Postman’ on our door steps.

Today (4 january 2016) is the 22nd death anniversary of R D Burman ( 27 june 1939- 4 january 1994). I am amazed to realise that more than two decades have elapsed since R D Burman left us. And it is eqaully surprising to realise that he was almost jobless as a music director by the time he died. His last movie as a music director was “1942, a love story” and its music caught the imagination of music lovers, but R D Burman was not there to savour this success.

So 2015 comes to an end. We have had a very eventful year on the blog. Reached many milestones. Many artists reached centuries and some had their thousands and two thousands. Many contributors have posted multiple centuries. But Atulji still remains the man who is the whole and soul sutradhar of this wonderful place in CYBERLAND. If it was not for his encouragement we would all still be waiting for his time and our farmaishes to be fulfilled. If he had not allowed us- his blog followers -to write our thought with our favourite songs it would not have been possible to read gems from enlightened souls like Arunkumar Deshmukhji and Bharat Upadhyayji and Shenoyji and Sudhirji. I can think of our blog as a kind of workplace where each person specializes in a particular field. Long live such a well oiled machinery!!!! Also in the month of November we had our annual panchis (birds) returning home and a few of us got together in Bangalore (of course we are waiting for the Ankhon Dekha Haal from our able commentator Rajaji).

This is a fun video dance-cum-song from film Labela-66, featuring Master Bhagwan and Kumkum in the scene.
I am discussing a song from the 1960s after a long time. Even the last song of 1960s discussed by me had come after a long gap. Songs from the 1960s, especially from the latter half of the decade were not to my taste as much as I relish songs from the earlier years. I have selected today’s song for the purpose of discussing the life and career events of Master Bhagwan showing his other less known side.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
Its been three weeks since the gang out happened in Bangalore. I am sure fellow atulites would be waiting for a report on the happenings of that day. But that is not the beginning. It all began with the news that there was going to be a visitor to Bangalore in the week preceding Diwali. That started the chain of mails to coax other Atulites into making a visit. I think this is the right place to mention that this is that period in the year when birds migrate from the colder regions of the world to India which is definitely warmer. One of our gang member joins the birds in this home coming. The first person to jump to say the dates were ideal for the gangout was Sudhirji and YYIIPPEEEE master. Guruji conveyed that he would be unable to make it but Ben Katie was 100% sure she would join us over the net and be our international delegate. There were only 77 mails exchanged to put the whole meet in place. My mind was playing the song “Jahaan Char Yaar Miljaaye”.
